Pierre Loti: Easy 4 Cable Clocks

Istanbul Trips 👁️ 30

Pierre Loti cable car runs 08:00 to 22:00 this winter. The ride is about 3 minutes. Four clocks for the queue, the Istanbulkart, and the mosque below. Pierre Loti is a cable-car clock in Eyup, and these four easy checks decide whether the cabin is worth the drop. TF2 rides about three minutes. The winter board, from 1 October 2026, runs 08:00 to 22:00. The terrace is free. The queue is not, and a clear Sunday can take longer than the air time. Use an Istanbulkart. Cabins hold about eight. Give the view 60 minutes, and the mosque below its own 45. This hill is not on the morning, standard, or deluxe voucher. Tell the driver Eyup, not the view.

Pierre Loti is a cable-car clock in Eyup, not a palace on the square. TF2 rides about three minutes. The winter board, from 1 October 2026, runs 08:00 to 22:00. The terrace is free. The queue is not. We keep that split as a licensed Istanbul operator, TÜRSAB 16602. The hill checks on our partner brand are Colina’s Pierre Loti hill checks.

Pierre Loti clocks at the lower station

Four times decide the stop. When Metro Istanbul says the line opens and closes. Whether a maintenance note has pulled this morning. How long the queue is compared with a three-minute ride. Whether anyone still wants the mosque after the rail. Guests who remember only “the view” arrive at Suleymaniye, which is a real terrace and the wrong hill. That mosque’s prayer clock is on Suleymaniye Mosque. Eyup is further up the Golden Horn. Say the name.

From a Sultanahmet hotel the car is about 7 km and 25 to 40 minutes. The lower station is a short walk from the mosque side, not a second district. We drop there. You ride or you walk. We do not leave the van at the upper tea garden and hope the cabin brings you back after the line has closed.

Four clocks, one cabin

ClockWhat to believeWhat wastes the drop
1. HoursWinter 08:00 to 22:00. Summer on the same page to 23:00A blog that prints one closing time for every month
2. The rideAbout 3 minutes, Istanbulkart, cabins of about eightCash, or six people in one car
3. The waitWeekday morning if the light can flexA clear Sunday at 16:00 with a hard pickup
4. The splitView about 60 minutes. Mosque is another 45Both, plus tea, inside one gap before lunch

Read the week on the TF2 page. Tree work and maintenance have stopped the line for a morning before, inside the posted hours. If the station is dark, use the path or move the hill to tomorrow. Do not spend the gap arguing with a shutter.

08:00 to 22:00, until the board moves

Metro Istanbul moved TF2 to the winter timetable on 1 October 2026: 08:00 to 22:00. The summer line on that same page is 08:00 to 23:00. We will not average them into 22:30. You are in the winter window now if you are reading this in October. Recheck before a spring trip, because the page is the closer, not this paragraph.

Last cabin near 22:00 is not a plan for people who still want tea. Be at the lower station with margin, or be walking down while there is light. The hill path through the cemetery is real. It is uphill on the way up, fifteen to twenty-five minutes if you are fit, and a poor idea in dress shoes or with a stroller. It is also the only way up when the wire is stopped.

Tell the driver the stop in one sentence: Eyup, mosque side, Pierre Loti cable car, one hour for the rail or two if the mosque is included. “The view” is how cars end at the wrong hill. If the station shutter is down, do not burn the hour waiting for a cabin that the board already cancelled. Walk if the group can, or take the same car back toward the square and keep Topkapi for the afternoon you already paid for. A closed line is a schedule change. It is not a reason to invent a second palace.

Three minutes up, longer in line

The air time is the easy part. About three minutes over cypress and stone. The line in front of a fine weekend can be twenty minutes or more, and it resets on the way down. Budget both directions. A group of six splits across cabins of about eight. Meet at the upper rail, not in the car you hoped to share. Istanbulkart is the payment. Have the card before you reach Eyup. A hotel desk in Sultanahmet can sort the card the night before. The station is a bad place to learn the machine.

Children ride with an adult. Bags stay zipped. The cabin is glass and short, not a place to sort a suitcase. The airport bag count is still six in the van, which is a different problem, already on what to pack for Istanbul. For this hill, bring a layer. October wind on the rail is not the square at noon.

The mosque is the other hour

Eyup Sultan, below the station, is a pilgrimage mosque. Scarf, covered knees and shoulders, shoes off, quiet voice. Prayer closes the interior the way it does everywhere else in the city. Forty-five minutes is enough when the hall is open. It is not included in the viewpoint hour, and it is not optional colour you add because the cabin queue looked short. If you want both, book both, and give the driver a two-hour window.

Tea at the top is one glass, then down. A second pot is how the mosque loses its slot or the van loses its next pickup. The view does not improve because you stayed. The horn is the same horn. Take it, and leave the table for the next cabin.

Which voucher does not climb

Morning from €125 is the square until about 13:00. That short day is the morning half day from €125. Standard from €230 adds Topkapi, lunch, and the Grand Bazaar when it is open: the standard full day from €230. Deluxe from €290 spends the afternoon on a cruise or Balat, not on a cable car in Eyup. That longer day is the deluxe full day from €290. Pierre Loti is on none of them.

Put the hill on its own morning, on the Build Your Own Istanbul Tour planner. Four nights can hold the square, this rail, and an evening that is not another viewpoint. That count is our Istanbul 4 day itinerary. The first night, before any cabin, is first evening in Sultanahmet.

Common questions

Is the terrace ticketed?

No. You pay the cable car if you ride it, with an Istanbulkart, at the ordinary transit fare. The rail at the top does not have a palace desk.

What if the line is closed?

Walk, if the group can, or move the hill. Do not stand at a dark station and spend the Hagia Sophia slot. Check TF2 that morning.

How long should the driver wait?

Sixty minutes for the view alone when the queue is ordinary. Ninety if the weekend line is folded. Two hours if the mosque is in the same drop.

Can six people ride together?

Not as a private cabin. About eight seats, shared. Split and meet at the top. The van is the place you stay together.

Is this Suleymaniye?

No. Suleymaniye is the four-minaret mosque closer to Eminonu. Pierre Loti is the Eyup ridge and the tea terrace. Different drop.

Where does the airport car fit?

The night before. Book Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet: private Vito, six passengers, six bags, fixed €45, Gate 9, CEO 34. SAW is €50 at pillar 10. The partner car is Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet. Confirm one company.

Lock the return with the inbound: Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport. Partner return if you are comparing desks: Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport. A 16:00 flight is a midday pickup and no hill that morning. One viewpoint, named, cable car checked, mosque only if the hour was booked for it.
