Spice Bazaar Istanbul is a clock at Eminonu, beside the New Mosque and the ferry piers. The hall’s own FAQ says seven days, 10:00 to 20:00. Entry is free. A clean visit is about 45 minutes. The Grand Bazaar in Beyazit is a different door and still closes on Sunday. We keep that split as a licensed Istanbul operator, TÜRSAB 16602. The stall checks on our partner brand are Colina’s Spice Bazaar Istanbul stall checks.
Spice Bazaar Istanbul clocks at Eminonu
Four times decide the stop. When the hall says it opens. When it says it closes. Whether Sunday is this door or the other bazaar. How many minutes you actually have before the driver is back. Guests who remember only “the bazaar” arrive in Beyazit on a Sunday, find the iron gate shut, and miss the arches that were open by the water the whole time.
The building is the 1660s hall raised for the New Mosque. One L. You can see the end of it. That is the point. You are not mapping a city under a roof. You are in a corridor of spice, lokum and tea, with the mosque on one side and the pier on the other. From the Eminonu tram stop it is a few minutes on foot. From a Sultanahmet hotel, about 2 km, 20 to 30 minutes downhill, slower on the way back.
Four clocks, one hall
| Clock | What to believe | What wastes the stop |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Hours | Bazaar FAQ: 10:00 to 20:00, seven days. Recheck before you fly | A blog that still prints the old Sunday closure |
| 2. Sunday | This hall can be open. The Grand Bazaar is shut | One taxi instruction that only says bazaar |
| 3. Length | About 45 minutes. Seventy if you sit and buy twice | Calling it a half-day and skipping the square |
| 4. Price | 100 grams, named, before the scoop | A shut bag and a surprise total |
Religious holidays can close the door even in a month when ordinary Sundays are full. The line we quote is the bazaar FAQ, not a screenshot from last spring. If the page changes the clock, the page wins.

What the bazaar itself prints
Management says the hall serves seven days from 10:00 to 20:00, and that official holidays and changes go on their site and social feeds. Other boards still print 08:00 or a later Sunday open. We do not average them. We send you to the FAQ, and we tell the driver 10:00 unless that page has moved. Arrive at 09:10 because a map app said 08:00 and you will be photographing a closed arch.
Entry stays free. The money is the jar, the box, the tin. There is no combined palace ticket hiding at this gate. Children do not need a museum pass. They do need a hand in the corridor, because the light is low in places and the samples come with elbows.
Sunday is not Beyazit
Kapalicarsi closes Sunday. That is a settled clock on our Grand Bazaar tips. Spice Bazaar Istanbul does not inherit it. A Sunday in the old city can be the mosque, the square, and this hall, in that order, with the Beyazit lanes left for Monday through Saturday. Do not “make up” the Grand Bazaar by walking here and calling the voucher complete. The lanes, the gates and the jewelry are a different hour in a different place.
Say the name to the driver. Spice Bazaar, or Misir Carsisi, mosque side. Grand Bazaar means Beyazit. The ride between them is short on a map and long if you only notice at the drop. We would rather hear the right door the night before.

Forty-five minutes, then out
Use the time in one direction. In at the arch you will remember. Two stalls. Taste what is offered. Ask the price of 100 grams of the jar you are pointing at. Choose a weight. Pay. Out through the same arch, where the car or the group is waiting. A third stall is how 45 minutes becomes 80, and how the Hagia Sophia gallery loses its slot.
Saffron is threads, light, and not cheap. A bright red powder sold like paprika is not a bargain on saffron. Lokum is a piece you eat first, then a box you name: pistachio or rose, and the weight on the label. Apple tea in a tin is a gift. It is not the tea in the tulip glass. Pepper flakes and dried fruit pack cleanly. A tower of glass jars does not, not with six bags already counted for the airport.
Zip the bag before the arch. Phone in a front pocket. The square outside, with the tram and the pier, is where groups split. Pick the arch. The pack list that still applies in a crowded hall is what to pack for Istanbul.
Which voucher does not hold it
Morning from €125 runs the square until about 13:00. It does not also swallow this hall and the Grand Bazaar. That short day is the morning half day from €125. Standard from €230 is the ridge plus the Grand Bazaar when the Grand Bazaar is open, lunch, and the Vito. See the standard full day from €230. On Sunday the Beyazit door is shut, so the spice hall is the covered market you can still enter. It is not a silent substitute written into the same line.
Deluxe from €290 keeps the afternoon for a cruise or Balat. If you want these arches, book them as a 45-minute Eminonu block on a day that has the gap, on the Build Your Own Istanbul Tour planner. Four nights can hold the square, one named hall, and an evening that is not a market. That count is our Istanbul 4 day itinerary. The first night, before any jar, is first evening in Sultanahmet.

Common questions
What time does the hall open?
10:00 on the bazaar’s own FAQ, through 20:00, seven days. Confirm that page the week you fly. Do not arrive at dawn on the strength of an older blog.
Is Sunday open?
Yes, on the hall’s own board. The Grand Bazaar is the Sunday closure. Spice Bazaar Istanbul stays the Eminonu door. Check holidays. A bayram morning can still be dark.
How long is enough?
Forty-five minutes. Add tea and a second box only if the next pickup can move. It is a stop, not the day.
Is there a ticket?
No. You pay the stall. Keep the price conversation in front of the scoop, at 100 grams, then scale up if you still want it.
Can the car wait?
Yes. Drop at the mosque side, 45 minutes, same arch. Walking back to Sultanahmet is the slow direction. Use it when you are not against a gallery time.
Will a guide take a cut?
Not on our day. Two stalls, your price, your bag. If every stop is the same uncle, you are in someone else’s script.
Where does the airport car fit?
Before the stall, not instead of a plan. Book Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet for a Sultanahmet hotel: private Vito, six passengers, six bags, fixed €45, Gate 9, CEO 34. SAW is €50 at pillar 10. The partner car on the same corridor is Istanbul Airport to Sultanahmet. Confirm one company.
Lock the return with the inbound: Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport. Partner return if you are comparing desks: Sultanahmet to Istanbul Airport. A 16:00 flight is a midday pickup and no corridor of jars that morning. One hall, named, 45 minutes, Sunday kept for this door and not for Beyazit.
